Mastersoil 150 is a micronised, linear anionic polyacrylamide soil conditioner designed to stabilise soil aggregates and support water management in the root zone. Soil structure influences how water enters and moves through the ground, how roots develop, and how soil particles and associated nutrients are retained.
Mastersoil 150 works through flocculation and aggregate stabilisation. It helps bind susceptible fine particles into more stable aggregates, supporting the pore spaces through which water and air move.
Treatment suitability depends on soil texture, chemistry, existing structure, cultivation and moisture conditions. QSoil helps identify where this approach can address a measurable limitation.

Laboratory and physical evidence
SoilWater’s International Trials Review includes settling tests using sandy loam, clay and clay loam. These demonstrations show rapid flocculation under the reported test conditions.
The review also includes controlled moisture-release testing and microscopic observations of treated and untreated material. These help investigate the physical response to treatment; field measurements are needed to establish its agronomic and economic value.
Synchrotron imaging is identified in the review as a feasibility study under assessment.
UK field evidence — NIAB–BCGA carrots

The review identifies Nairobi carrots drilled, monitored and harvested by NIAB at the British Carrot Growers Association annual plot trials.

The review also brings together soil-analysis results from three carrot trial settings: NIAB–BCGA in Nottingham, commercial production in Yorkshire and commercial production in Norfolk.
UK field evidence — Goodes and Halsall’s potatoes
Larger tubers and increased harvested weight.
The commercial potato trial programme at Goodes and Halsall’s is separate from the NIAB carrot work.
SoilWater’s review reports more than 20% increases in tuber size and yield weight across three UK trials, comparing equivalent plot areas for Royal potatoes grown for processing.
The review also describes treated plots producing more tubers in sizes acceptable to the buyer. This makes marketable output an important measure alongside total harvested weight.
International reference evidence
The review includes additional work on sandy-soil amendments in Australia, strawberry and zucchini production in Mexico, and non-irrigated alfalfa in Chile.
It also reports a Manitoba salinity-management application combining Mastersoil 150 with gypsum. These results relate to the combined treatment and site conditions; they should not be attributed to Mastersoil 150 alone.
International findings support further assessment across different soils and production systems. Application rates, controls and growing conditions must be considered when comparing results.
